The Mercure Bowden Hall Hotel

If  you have a long way to travel or want to spoil yourself and add an extra night to your holiday, then we offer pre-cruise hotel stays at our local partner hotel which is only a short drive from our home mooring.

You can choose from either bed and breakfast, or dinner bed and breakfast options.

Parking is free of charge for your whole cruise if you take a hotel extension.

Hotel Extension Options

Hotel extensions are available for all our cruises. When you book a hotel stay you check out by 11am and drive to us for an early bag drop before parking your car. You are then free to have lunch and explore Gloucester until your boarding time. Five and six night cruises board at 2pm, all other cruises board at 6pm.

Not got far to come? All of our 5 & 6 night cruises board in the early afternoon. If you have an easy journey to Gloucester and don't have concerns about getting to us on time without having to rush, then maybe this is the package for you. It includes the cruise only and parking is extra at the current daily rate.

If you have a way to come to get to Gloucester, we recommend staying at our nearby partner hotel. Travel to Gloucester the day before your cruise departs and enjoy a bed and breakfast stay. With this option you don't have to rush to meet the boarding time and there is no extra cost for parking.

 If you have something to celebrate or you just want to go all in, then take the Admiral package. You get a pre-cruise stay at our partner hotel with dinner, bed and breakfast. Also, after you check out from the hotel on the day of the cruise, enjoy a pre-boarding lunch just around the corner from our mooring. Parking included at no extra cost and we also provide some free souvenirs!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I have to pay and when?

Secure your booking with a £200 per cabin deposit. For all cruises departing 1.5.21 or later you will need to pay your balance 60 days in advance of your departure date. For all departures in April 2021, we will not be asking for balance payments until after the U.K. government announcement on reopening the economy, which is due on 22.2.21.

I'm a single traveller. Do you have single cabins and single rates?

Yes. The Edward Elgar only has twin cabins on board, but we do have single rates on most of our cruises. There are two single rate cabins available on every Unique Weekend Break and Historic Canal Cruise. We offer one cabin at a single rate on The River Heritage Cruise, The Cruise to the Views and The Heart of England Cruise. Single rates are not available on the Severn Wonders Cruise. Please note that in order to make a single booking you will need to do so by phone by calling us on 01452 410411 as single bookings cannot be booked online.

Is there parking & is it secure?

Yes. We use professional third party providers for parking. We always make sure the parking location is secure and with extra measures such as patrols or CCTV.  We have not had a single incident or problems with parking security since we began operating in 2005. Parking is charged per night if you take the Captain package, but free of charge if you book Commodore or Admiral packages. See pricing for details.

I have reduced mobility, is this suitable for me?

We have been inspected by VisitEngland and received an M1 mobility rating. This means we are considered to be suitable for older and less agile guests with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance. Do you allow children?

Our holidays are designed to be completely laid back and relaxed. We do not usually allow bookings with children as it is an adult only setting. However, if you charter the vessel in full for Christmas cruises, we do allow children but we ask that children are a minimum of 7 years old for safety reasons.

Do I need travel insurance cover?

Yes. It is very important in case you have to cancel unexpectedly. We do not sell travel insurance but we will provide you with details of travel insurance providers that can arrange suitable cover for one of our cruises. You can use any insurer and we don't insist you use our partner insurer. It is important you purchase coverage as soon as you have booked your holiday.
